"Well, way up in Alaska, the state that stands
alone.." Wait, that's the Iditarod Trail song.
We spent time in March learning
about the Iditarod, the trail, and the mushers. Isaac's musher was Alan
Eischens, and Emmot's musher was Ramey Smyth. We were tracking our
mushers. First place went to Joar Leifseth Ulsom.
The reason the Iditarod started
was from what was called, The Great Race of Mercy. An outbreak of Diphtheria
broke out in Nome, Alaska, and the only way they could get the medicine to them
was by a relay of mushers and sled dogs, and they did it!
We'll see you at next years, Iditarod
(not really)!
