News from AJ - A Former 3rd Grader

Hello Mr. Wolfe,

At Holden Village things are the same because there is playground and a school.  There are some big differences though. The village
gets an average of 310 inches of snow per year because we live up in the Cascade Mountains. There can be 5 feet or more of snow, on the ground January through March. There's just 7 students in my elementary class, but we have one first grader, two fourth graders, two fifth graders, and a sixth grader. In the high school classroom there are four students.  We have two teachers and one assistant too. We don't have snow days because we can just sled to school. Really!  Since we live high up in the mountains we walk everywhere and we can go hiking any time we want.  There is wildlife all around too.  This summer I got to watch two mama deer and their fawns.  They come out to eat on our lawns every evening and we watched the fawns grow and lose their spots.  There are squirrels & chipmunks all over and lots of birds.  And although I haven't seen them, there's bears and cougars around too.

It was good to visit today.  I like school at the village, but I miss Hedden too.
